This Memorial weekend marks the end of school for many and the beginning of fun and wonderful summer adventures for others. I have noticed the excitement and antisipation of relaxation and excitement of leaving the daily routine behind, in many of your faces.
It is during the next few months that many of the regulars who enter through our doors will be dearly missed while they are visiting other parts of the country and even other parts of the world. The best part for me is when they come back and I get to live vicariouly through them as they share their stories and pictures of what they experienced!
Some of you may not have a chance to get away for more than a couple of long weekends, much like myself. We can all look forward to some wonderful offerings at LeeLaa Yoga this summer.
LeeLaa is offering a yoga class for the kids this summer! This a great outlet for their energy and will help to build focus and self esteem as well as teaching them how to become calm. We all want a little of that! :) I sure wish I knew about this when my kids were young! This class series will be on Mondays beginning on June 10th and will go through August 12th.
For those who want to enrich the mind, body and soul this summer, there is a Summer Yoga Philosophy Book Study and Practice taking place at LeeLaa. I am really excited for this! Bryson Newell will be leading a study of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika by Swami Muktibodhananda. We will meet every other Saturday beginning June 8th - August 10th at 10:30 am till noon. If you miss a meeting, no worries, Bryson will have a support line set up for you to get the details of the meeting and next assignment for you to review and move forward to the next meeting.
Do you still have some nagging back troubles or know of someone who is suffering from them? We get more people referred to us at LeeLaa Yoga from physicians and therapists as ongoing care for dealing with their back pain. Becky Morrissey will be teaching a summer yoga therapy series on the lumbar spine. It is titled Healing from Within - Caring for Your Lumber. There are three workshops to this series. You can sign up for them all or for them individually. The topics of these workshops are as follows: Recovering the Spring in Your Step (Sat., June 22nd); The System Supporting the Lumbar (Sat., July 20th); Bury the Mountains, Dig out the Valleys (Sat., Aug 17th).
I am also excited about the new weekly classes that have been added to the schedule this summer and I think you will be too. Here is just a little peek of what they are.
We have Bryson Newell returning as a guest teacher for the summer. He is adding two new classes to the schedule. One on Sunday mornings (starting May 26th) at 9:45 am. It is a Yoga 3 class that is taught in the same format as in India. Class begins with chanting and om's then will move into individual asana practices. Students of different levels with be practicing together with adjustments and imput from Bryson. This form of "self practice is very beneficial for the intermediate and advanced students. The second one is a Yoga 2 class on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am. Bryson will give pose options appropriate for beginners through advanced yogis so all levels of practioners are welcomed.
Stephanie is going to change from teaching hot yoga to teaching a Yoga Basics class on Thursday evenings at 6:15 pm. This class starts on June 6th. This class will show the beginner and the experienced yogi how to go deeper into a pose and how to incorporate props into the asana practice.
Karen has changed her Wednesday evening class to a Sadhana Yoga class and it starts at 6:15 pm. Sadhana translates to spiritual practice or discipline preformed regularly for the attainment of inner experience and self realization. Karen's class will practice pranayama, meditation, asana, mantra, yoga philosophy and much more.
Of course we still have our special monthly classes, Candlelight, Restorative Yoga, and Lila's Community Satsongs going on as well. You can check out more information on these and all the new offerings on the website.
I look foward to seeing you, hearing about your summer adventures and learning yoga with you all this summer!
